meet kari and alan

Senior Pastors

Co-pastors of Connection Community Church, Kari and Alan are ordained United Methodist Elders who pastored individually before hearing the call to plant a church in Middletown and lead the congregation together. They deliver the sermon in a back-and-forth style that complements the contemporary and dynamic worship. Prior to entering the ministry, Kari worked as a registered nurse in critical care and hospice, and Alan taught high school English for four years followed by 14 years as an agent and sales manager in the insurance field. Their family includes daughter Erin and her husband, Kyle, daughter Megan and her husband, Ted, daughter Devon and her husband, TC, and son Turner. Grandchildren Isabella, Jacob, and Adaline bring them lots of joy! In their spare time, hanging out with family ranks first. After that, Kari enjoys the beach and reading and Alan watches the Phillies and movies. Kari and Alan are not afraid to go outside the normal church boundaries and are passionate about connecting people with Jesus and the life He offers. Please contact them with questions or concerns at kari@connectioncc.org or alan@connectioncc.org.

lori brown

Pastor of Spiritual Formation

Lori was hired as Connection’s Pastor of Spiritual Formation in 2008. Prior to entering the ministry, she worked for many years using her Management Information Systems background to design information systems for various non-profit organizations in Delaware. She also has a love of numbers, which led her to specialize in data conversion.

Lori had been un-churched for the majority of her life. Then she attended Connection Community Church for the first time in 2004, as the result of a very emphatic invitation from her step-mother. She gave her life to the Lord in the quiet of her home one day while reading The Purpose Driven Life, written by Rick Warren. Her heart was forever changed that day.

Lori enjoys spending time with family, reading, and loves the water. She and her family live in Newark, Delaware.

You can contact Lori at Lori@connectioncc.org or call the church office at 302.378-7692.

Barry Wiseman

Director of Creative Arts and Worship

Hired in March of 2011, Barry is one of the newest members of the team at Connection. Barry, his wife, Joy, and their 3 children started attending in 2007 and Barry quickly began volunteering in various areas around the church, most especially in the technical and creative areas. Bringing his years of graphic design video and website development to Connection was a natural fit when the church needed to hire a new Director of Creative Arts and Worship.

Barry and his family moved to Delaware from Virginia in 2005 and the family has been involved in activities throughout the community. Barry and Joy have served in various roles in Cub Scouts and Barry is currently Cubmaster of the Pack in which their youngest son is involved. The entire family participates in Middletown’s Relay for Life each year, not just on relay weekend but throughout the year in fundraising activities.

From developing the church’s electronic and printed materials to filming and editing videos used through worship services, Barry’s focus is on using creativity and technology to help connect people with Jesus and the life that He offers.

If you have any questions regarding the technical or creative areas of the ministry of the church, please contact Barry at barry@connectioncc.org.

For Debbie, no matter what hat she wears, what role she’s called to perform, or what season of life she’s in, her ultimate goal is to honor the Lord.
